An adventure beyond imagination!
DUMPY TOYS, a sort of "Jiminy Cricket," is the conscience of young Jimmy, who is fighting against his destiny. Disinherited by his father, who has just given everything to his other son, Eliot, his twin brother, Jimmy runs away with his friend Seraphin the rabbit, who magically transforms into a human and becomes his traveling companion.
DUMPY TOYS follows him closely, while he himself is watched by "the Boss," to whom he must answer. DUMPY TOYS guides Jimmy to get him out of the worst situations! Jimmy crosses the seas, meets Native Americans, and experiences incredible adventures with his friend Séraphin, whom "the Boss" will steal away with the help of invisible aliens!
It is then that DUMPY TOYS, with the help of the "Boss", reveals what Jimmy was looking for through this adventure...
Happy, Jimmy returns home...
DUMPY TOYS , meanwhile, seems to be waking up from a lifetime of slumber, and sets out in search of a new mission commissioned by "the Boss" to help a child in distress.

The Origins
It is in the mountains of Canada that
THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU ,
Its origins lie in an energy of musical film production and writing imbued with the sacred. It was with Stéphane Bouvier that he began the adventure of writing the story and
with Marc BERCOVITZ that Éric ATLAN will undertake
four years of composition
to complete the soundtrack, which includes a booklet
of more than nine hundred pages of orchestrated score,
intended to be played by ninety musicians.
A true talent scout, he discovered actors like Kate Beckinsale , José Garcia, and Clovis Cornillac , and launched the careers of numerous directors, including Xavier Giannoli. He also gave Alexandre Desplat, then a young composer, his first big break by entrusting him with the original scores for three films, and worked with cinematographer Darius Khondji.
With "DUMPY TOYS," he confirms his signature style as a filmmaker who gives free rein to his nonconformity through a fantastical and surreal universe and a timeless and universal coming-of-age story. This is his fifth feature film, in which he served as screenwriter, director, cinematographer, and co-composer alongside Marc Bercovitz.
Alongside his work as a filmmaker, Éric Atlan writes novels, short stories, comics, and plays . His first children's novel, published by Sister and Brothers, entitled " THE INCREDIBLE ADVENTURES OF BABA WILDY," was released in June 2018. The year 2024 will see the publication of four more books, including the Western novel "JACK LOVE THE RIVER OF BLOOD," intended to be adapted into a screenplay; the short story "LOL," adapted for Samy Naceri's directorial debut; the first volume of the science fiction saga "BLACKSHEEP FOREVER" ; and finally, the comic book series "THE ADVENTURES OF XORRO AND XARRA."
True to his insatiable work ethic, he is currently developing film projects, notably with Canal Plus , while continuing his talent scouting activity by developing young directors.

Marc Bercovitz
Composer
Composer Marc Bercovitz began studying piano with Maestro Sergey Petrosyon at the age of five . He studied in the advanced class of arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music in the United States in 1975. First Prize winner at the Boulogne Conservatory in the percussion class, he studied composition with David Blumberg (arranger, among others, of Barbara Streisand ) .
In 2009, he met Éric Atlan, with whom he founded two audiovisual production and music publishing companies, "Rainbow Mélodies" and "Artistic Finances." Together they composed their first soundtrack for the film "MORTEM" and won numerous awards in the United States, in New York and Los Angeles . In France, they were noticed by Frédéric Lodéon , host of the popular music program "Carrefour de l'Odéon" on France Inter.
A frenzy of work ensued, with Marc Bercovitz continuing his collaboration with Éric Atlan and composing around twenty ragtimes for the mini-series Ragtimes Folies, the first volume of which was published by BD Jazz. He was involved in all projects and all aspects, building a current catalog of over one hundred original pieces covering a variety of themes and genres .
With Éric Atlan, they decided to undertake what they themselves call the musical work of a lifetime. "You only do it once," Marc Bercovitz often likes to say , reflecting on the sheer scale of the task involved in composing the music for " The Adventures of Captain Jimmy Crochu . " A thrilling and high-wire act designed to transport the viewer through the diverse landscapes of film music: Westerns, science fiction, romance, and adventure . This colossal challenge demanded more than four years of relentless work. The music, perfectly synchronized with the characters' gestures and emotions, required them to work with the precision of lacemakers, striving to combine accuracy and emotion.

Rares sont les films qui compte plus de dix années de production et connaissent une histoire exceptionnelle. "LES AVENTURES DU CAPITAINE JIMMY CROCHU" fait partie de cette courte liste où on peut retrouver Richard WILLIAMS avec son film "THE THIEF AND THE COBBLER", Jim JARMUSCH avec "COFFEE & CiIGARETTES" ou encore Richard LINKLATER qui mis douze ans à tourner son film "BOYHOOD" très largement récompensé entre autres par l’Ours berlinois. "LES AVENTURES DU CAPITAINE JIMMY CROCHU" est tirée de deux Scénarios, d'une part celui écrit par Stéphane BOUVIER et Éric ATLAN "LES AVENTURES DU CAPITAINE CROCHU" et "DUMPY TOYS le Monologue" écrite par Éric ATLAN. De ces deux scénario naitront le film.
Éric ATLAN donne le premier moteur de son film en Juillet 2012 avec Jacqueline PATTE, Philippo AL, Jimmy ARMAND, Stephan LAWSON, Hughes CYRILLE, Mané SOLEIL et travaillera quatre ans en parallèle du tournage sur la composition de la bande originale avec son acolyte compositeur Marc BERCOVITZ.
Après un mois de tournage, Éric ATLAN entame le travail de post-production grâce aux nouvelles technologies : Effets spéciaux et traitement des images. Chaque plan est traité image par image et demande un temps considérable pour le réalisateur, véritable homme-orchestre qui reste seul aux manettes.
The editing process is arduous, the film's story is rich and its parallel universes are numerous. The near absence of dialogue and the desire to convey a message on the theme of human injustice led the director to create a new character he named "DUMPY TOYS" .
The study of sacred texts is an inexhaustible source and a powerful vehicle for writing the dialogues of " DUMPY TOYS." This character, an emissary of the BOSS, is tasked with guiding young JIM MY, who feels betrayed. Disillusioned and angry, he runs away from home to embark on the path of forgiveness and redemption.
This new direction will give rise to
"DUMPY TOYS The Monologue" .

The second shoot can finally begin in the legendary 4,000 square meter studio in Bry-sur-Marne . Éric Atlan calls upon Laurent de FUNÈS to play the role of DUMPY TOYS, and allows himself the coquettishness of having the young actor Jimmy ARMAND play again, now a fifteen-year-old young man to complete his character.
And it works! The child, now a young man, intrigues and challenges the viewer, contributing to the film's timeless feel and its proposition of a journey through space and time.
Immediately, the work of composing music can resume to align the scores with the new images and with DUMPY TOYS.
The editing will later reveal the magic provided by the interactions between all the filmed characters, with a seven-year gap between them.

Only one actor for the twin brothers
The roles of Jimmy Crochu and his brother Eliot are played by the same actor, Jimmy Armand , then seven years old. The twinship of these two characters illustrates the different character traits a person can develop during their inner struggles. Like Eliot, who misses Jimmy, our "good side" can find itself lacking its bad side. Similarly, our bad side can encounter trials that allow it to correct itself.
“Despite his young age, Jimmy Armand (the young actor) immediately grasped the nuances of each character’s performance. We often filmed a scene with Jimmy’s character and then moved on to another scene with Eliot’s character, and it never caused any problems. I think Jimmy Armand never tried to intellectualize the relationship between the two brothers. He captured the emotion, and the result is stunning, ” the director told us.
Laurent de Funès
CEO of a major communications agency, Laurent began his acting career in theatre in 2011 with the role of Nero in "BRITANNICUS".
Then, from 2012 to 2013, he formed a duo with Marthe Mercadier in the play "MARTHE MERCADIER ET LAURENT DE FUNÈS EN VADROUILLE", with which they toured France.
In 2015, Éric Atlan directed him alongside Michel Galabru in the film " TOC TOC TOC ", while in parallel they co-wrote "LE CRIQUET JAUNE", an adventure comedy, THEIR FIRST NOVEL TOGETHER.
They continue their artistic collaboration with " THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU ", in which Laurent plays the role of Dumpy Toys . A sort of Jiminy Cricket, he embodies the BOSS's emissary whose sole mission is to help Jimmy CROCHU find his way to the right path.
Still working closely with Éric ATLAN, Laurent is currently touring with a one-man show, and the audio-book Raconte-Moi, a collection of fables and tales from the European heritage which was published in bookstores in 2022.
Jimmy Armand
Jimmy Armand began his acting career at the age of five. He first appeared in the mini-series Les Ragtime's Folies, the first album of which, published by BD Jazz, was released in bookstores in 2012.
At the age of seven, he played the recurring character of Pepito in the mini-series The Adventures of Xorro & Xarra .
" THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU " is his first role in a feature film. He plays the twin brothers JIMMY and ELIOT CROCHU, and reveals a performance of great precision, sensitive to the interpretation of these two brothers with radically opposed temperaments.
Philippo Al
In 2007, he met Producer and Director Éric Atlan, with whom he developed " BLACKSHEEP FOREVER" , a twelve -volume science fiction novel, with the idea of adapting it into an animated series . The first two volumes will be released in September and December 2024 by Sister & Brothers - Young Adult Fiction.
Furthermore, Éric Atlan chose him to play the character Xorro in " LES RAGTIMES FOLIES," which led to his role in the twelve-episode series "LES AVENTURES DE XORRO & XARRA, " also by Éric Atlan, for which he co-wrote the screenplay. He also published his first book, LE SANG FRONTIÈRE, with Sister & Brothers Editions.
In " THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU " he plays his first role in a feature film. He portrays Captain CROCHU.
Jacqueline Patte
Jacqueline Patte is the only female member of this new troupe of actors. She also contributes to the Ragtime's Folies score, alongside Philippo Al, Stephan Lawson, Hughes Cyrille, and Jimmy Armand. She plays the title role of Xarra in the miniseries The Adventures of Xorro & Xarra.
In "THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU" she plays the roles of the Queen, mother of JIMMY and ELIOT, and of CLEOPATRA.
Stephan Lawson
Stephan LAWSON began his acting career in the mini-series " LES RAGTIMES FOLIES" , where he played a host of burlesque characters with a 1930s feel, in front of Eric ATLAN's camera.
He converted the try with the recurring role of Sergeant GARCIMORE in the mini-series " THE ADVENTURES OF XORRO & XARRA" , a tender, funny, stupid and endearing character, as well as that of FERNANDO, the HERO's faithful companion.
" THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU " is his first feature film, written under the name Stéphane BOUVIER with Éric ATLAN. He mainly plays the character of THE GARGOYLE, whose magic cane holds the keys to space-time.
Hughes Cyrille
Hughes CYRILLE is an integral part of this new troupe of actors from the Sister & Brothers Films Studio. He began his career in the mini-series " LES RAGTIMES FOLIES" , in which he played, alongside Stephan LAWSON and Philippo AL, a host of burlesque characters with a 1930s feel, under the direction of Éric ATLAN.
In the mini-series The Adventures of Xorro & Xarr a, he brilliantly embodies the role of Corporal Xerres , a guard who is as stupid as he is lazy.
In " THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU ", which is his first role in a feature film, Éric ATLAN entrusts him with the interpretation of SÉRAPHIN THE RABBIT, faithful companion of CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU, and who has been transformed into a human being in the imaginary world.
Mané Soleil
Mané SOLEIL made a few brief appearances in the mini-series " LES RAGTIMES FOLIES" , when she was three years old, then played the character of Esperanza as a child in " LES AVENTURES DE XORRO & XARRA" .
In "THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU", she is the only sister of twins JIMMY and ELIOT, frightened by the australopithecine from JIMMY's world who, due to a switching error, comes to disturb for a short time a night in the real world.
Pierre Hatet
Pierre Hatet is one of the greatest French voice actors. Known and recognized for his dubbing work on " Back to the Future" and several animated and video game incarnations of the Joker from the Batman franchise . Initially trained in theater, he was discovered by Jean Vilar and enjoyed an impressive career spanning over forty years alongside his work in television.
He began his dubbing career in 1960 with "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN"
He quickly became the official French voice of Christopher Lloyd, notably in the role of Doc in the " BACK TO THE FUTURE" saga , but also in "THE ADDAMS FAMILY" (FETIDE) or " WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT" (Judge DEATH).
With "THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU," Éric ATLAN offered him the role of the BOSS, but also, unknowingly, the final role of his career. As a gift, the legendary actor Pierre HATET delivers a performance of "The Letter from RAMBAN" as a farewell, a message encapsulating the essence of how to behave towards others and the Boss.

A three-dimensional story
The film is a story told from the perspective of a character, "DUMPY TOYS," who propels us into an imaginary world: the world of JIMMY. This fantastical world is only real through its emotions. This is why its characters do not speak. Their feelings are conveyed to the audience through their eyes, their gestures, and the symphonic music composed by the duo Éric ATLAN and Marc BERCOVITZ, who have already received the Best Film Music Award at the New York Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Award for the film "MORTEM."
The film's only speaking scene is the moment the connection between the two worlds occurs : Jimmy's imaginary world and the real world of Eliot, his twin brother. In this deeply emotional sequence, Jimmy breaks his silence and asks his brother for forgiveness. Words are finally spoken, paving the way for reconciliation.
The character of "DUMPY TOYS," meanwhile, exists in a third, omnipresent universe: the world of the invisible. An emissary of "The Boss," as he calls him, he intervenes on behalf of JIMMY, whom his Master has entrusted to him. Like a guardian angel , a sort of conscience akin to Jiminy Cricket, he accompanies JIMMY , guides him, encourages him, and warns him, all with the sole aim of seeing him atone for his wrongdoing and progress on the path of righteousness . While remaining by JIMMY's side throughout his adventures, he also sometimes intervenes with ELIOT, who remains in the real world searching for his brother.

Eric Mantion is a film, television and web producer based in Montreal, and collaborated with David Sonnenfeld on the Sony productions of MEN IN BLACK II, RV and MEN IN BLACK III .
Since his career, he has produced an ambitious independent feature film, SNOW & ASHES, which has won numerous international awards, including the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2010. The film was critically acclaimed both in Quebec and abroad.
Eric Mantion also produces advertising for television and the web, corporate videos, in addition to managing his own production studios, located in the heart of Montreal.
The meeting with Éric ATLAN took place in Cannes in 2013 around the project "LES INCROYABLES AVENTURES DE BABA WILDY" , his first children's novel published by Les Éditions Sister & Brothers, which will be adapted for an animated series .
Since then , Éric Mantion and Éric Atlan have built a true Canada-France bridge for all their film and television projects, fostering numerous co-productions between the two countries. Enthusiastic about the director's work, he decided to produce " The Adventures of Captain Jimmy Crochu ," which also marked their first collaboration on a feature film.
A man of cinema… It's hard to define the head of Transpalux any other way, given that he had to be emancipated (he wasn't of legal age!) to take over the family business after his father's death. And a man of passion, whose productions and technicians appreciate his experience and rigor…
But above all, he is a man of heart, a man of his word, who has the exceptional merit of following through on his words with actions . Already a co-producer on "MORTEM," Éric ATLAN's previous feature film, he repeats the experience with "THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU," a production spanning more than ten years that requires a loyal and responsive partner. He will provide numerous technical resources during the filming of "THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN JIMMY CROCHU" at the legendary BRY-SUR-MARNE STUDIOS, to which Didier DIAZ and Pascal BECU have given a complementary boost.
Does this illustrious company, founded by Jesús Diaz and his wife Jacqueline in the aftermath of the Second World War, and taken over in 1970 by their son Didier Diaz, really need an introduction?
