The Adventures of Xorro & Xarra!

An anthem to all those who fight to live

Forced out by their boss, who wants to dig a swimming pool on the site of the small house she lent them, Marie-Sol, her husband, and her father find themselves homeless. Joséfa, a not-so-young stripper who no longer wants to get naked, welcomes them with open arms into her cabaret, which is struggling to find customers.

In this refuge at the end of the world, the tribe reunites and the father, the brother, the sister, the brother-in-law, the sister-in-law, the adopted brother, the client and the young drug addict organize the resistance: facing unemployment, distress, old age, sterility, each will seek their answer and understand, like Marie-Sol, that it is no longer enough to pray, to beg or to be content to wait, but that it is necessary to act and fight.

“You, you face war every day,” says one of the protagonists, “but you don’t realize it.” Their only weapons are love, laughter, kindness, and solidarity. An anthem to all those who fight to live.

"À la vie!" is a play adapted from the screenplay of the film "À la vie, à la mort" co-written by Jean-Louis Milesi and Robert Guédiguian. A film by Robert Guédiguian.

Avoiding the pitfalls of sensationalist pity and voyeurism, Pierre-Loup Rajot stages a sensitive work with a lilting accent, well-acted, that invites us to laugh, cry, drink, and celebrate life. Despite everything.
